This is not a factory-produced model, but a comprehensive modernization of the iconic Simonov carbine. In the Zone, where reliability and the widespread availability of 7.62×39 ammunition are highly valued but modern ergonomics are sorely lacking, skilled gunsmiths took the old SKS and dressed it in a modern polymer chassis. Of the old grandfather's carbine, only the proven barrel and gas system remain. Everything else has been replaced with more practical modern components.
