The most widely used pistol in the Zone, the PM is a vestige of the Soviet era and one of the finest compact self-defense weapons ever made. It stands out for its small dimensions, superb reliability, simplicity of use, and ease of maintenance. Among its downsides are low range and accuracy, limited bullet effectiveness, and—compared to other modern pistols in the same class—relatively poor magazine capacity and excess weight.
