The first production variant of the M16, featuring a chrome-lined barrel and chamber, an improved buffer spring, and a forward assist. These upgrades eliminated most of the original M16's shortcomings and made the rifle suitable for reliable service. It can still occasionally be found in the Zone, though more often as a collector's piece than a practical weapon.
