Opal is a thermal artifact that shares the highest bullet resistance and stamina in the artifact list, plus a small temperature purge. Its downsides are a Vitality penalty and frost buildup, which inner protection does not reduce. Its additional stats can add more stamina, bullet resistance or stability.

In-game description (EXBO)
Like the artifacts that emerge during the anomalous winter Blizzards, the Opal is composed of altered ice whose molecular structure has been distorted by anomalous influence. The Opal's most distinctive characteristic, and one of particular interest to scientists, is the way it refracts light, producing a peculiar shimmering ripple across its surface. Research conducted by the Institute's Department of Flora and Fauna has confirmed that these fluctuations of light can exert a hypnotic effect on most organisms possessing a complex higher nervous system. Moreover, the pattern of the shimmering changes depending on the living organism observing it.
